Microsoft unveiled Windows updates aimed at adding agentic AI capabilities directly into the Windows PC experience, tying cloud AI and local AI tools together with the reworked Copilot. The Surface Laptop Ultra it showcased will cost $2,599 and be available starting Oct. 16. Copilot will be redesigned as a central Windows “super app” with more native, potentially offline task execution and an Autopilot feature for running agent-style tasks, while some shown functions remain unavailable.
Midwest Wheel is building toward AI agents that can fix operational problems by tying new capabilities to a single Infor business system and using agentic AI governance to decide what runs automatically versus with human oversight. The company embedded AI features after moving to the cloud, including automation that scans emailed PDF invoices into its system and a product recommender in order entry, with “just a few weeks” to build the new tools. The approach shifts AI from merely identifying issues to taking action under defined rules, while keeping humans in the loop for tasks that touch cash or accounts.
TheCUBE’s coverage of ‘The AI ROI in Contact Center Summit’ described how contact centers are shifting from measuring call speed toward blending agentic AI with humans to resolve customer issues and improve trust. Only 66% of actual users said contact centers have gotten better with AI, compared with 99% of business practitioners. Companies are therefore moving to “conversation to completion” metrics and hybrid operating models that preserve context across handoffs and assign AI to high-volume, low-stakes work while humans handle complex cases.
Agentic automation is being added to AI center of excellence roadmaps, but the article says the usual ROI model inherited from rule-based RPA undercounts value by ignoring change costs, exceptions, oversight, and decision and maintenance impacts.
It cites a 1.5–4× planning range for the cost of correcting errors, and uses a claims example with $45 per hour and about $1.26 million of capacity released from automating 70% of routine work.
It recommends a new Agentic Value Model that prices time savings, exception/error handling, decision quality, and maintenance resilience separately, then applies a stop-rule portfolio approach to measure only realized economic value.
A six-week structured program helped business professionals who use AI daily but do not code build working multi-agent AI prototypes instead of only discussing them.
Tony Fadell told MIT Future Fest that early AI gadgets like the Rabbit R1, Humane AI pin, and Limitless pendant were discontinued because they didn’t solve real needs and lacked consumer trust. He said only less than 0.01% of the world’s population has had a human assistant do anything. He argues future personal AI assistants must earn security and trust, likely operating on-device for privacy, with on-screen-free sensor access improving reliability.
Meta and Sierra released the Personal Agent Protocol (PAP) to define how personal AI agents authenticate and act across merchants’ services. Version 0.1 is scheduled later this month. As a result, participating businesses can set access to public data, read-only account details, or write actions like returns, with payments and push notifications deferred to later extensions.
Meta’s Muse iOS app added native iPad support after weeks where the iPhone app was a top free download on Apple’s App Store. The iPad update follows the mobile launch by nearly a month, with a Mac version released about a week after the original mobile debut. As a result, Muse can be used on iPads with improved multitasking and larger-screen layouts compared with the iPhone version (though the iPad support is limited).
Atlassian announced the Agentic Multiplayer Protocol to let human workers and AI agents collaborate in the same governed workspace with shared context and task controls. Atlassian said its expanded Model Context Protocol server exposes 200 tools and handles about 15 million tool calls daily. As a result, Atlassian’s Rovo Work, Loom, and agent tooling are geared toward longer, human-reviewed tasks and richer integration with Teamwork Graph and external data platforms.
Meta Platforms and Sierra Technologies, along with Walmart and Stripe, are developing the Personal Agent Protocol to standardize how autonomous AI agents transact with businesses online. The protocol was introduced by Sierra co-founder Bret Taylor on the day after six major banks called for comprehensive standards and protections in a paper. This creates open “rails” for agent authentication and visibility, aiming to reduce privacy, safety, and fraud concerns while making agent-based commerce easier to trust and adopt.
