Researchers at TU Delft developed a system that lets a passenger backseat-drive an autonomous car by turning natural-language requests into parameter changes for a safety-aware motion planner. In simulation on nuPlan across 8 prompts, the system adjusted speed and steering smoothness to match user intent. The work shifts control from direct driving decisions to an LLM-mediated tuning of planner criteria with a confirmation step and safety baselines.
Thomson Reuters launched Thomson, a proprietary large language model built for legal work and deployed first in CoCounsel Legal AI’s Tabular Analysis. The company spent about $40 million over two years, with the final training run costing about $450,000. The model becomes the default for Tabular Analysis while CoCounsel can still switch between Thomson and third-party frontier models, and Thomson Reuters plans wider testing and a smaller open-weight release.
Ox Alpha appeared on OpenRouter and OpenCode as an unverified, supposedly multimodal AI coding model with claims about very large token capacity and no named lab behind it. The preview ran with free access for one week, and community figures say it processed about 7.1 trillion tokens across about 134,000 users in that time. Developers can now trial the model through OpenCode (with required billing details on the free-tokens route or a subscription that bills monthly while the model itself is free), while the community continues to attribute it via technical forensics and awaits independent benchmarks.
