Thomson Reuters launched a proprietary legal AI model and set it as the default for tabular analysis in CoCounsel Legal

Model release Provisional 84% confidence first seen

Thomson Reuters introduced its own proprietary large language model for legal work, after spending about $40 million on training. The company deployed the model first in CoCounsel Legal’s Tabular Analysis and made it the default for that task, while continuing to use third-party frontier models for other parts of the product and adding verification steps. Thomson Reuters also indicated plans for broader testing and a smaller open-weight release.
