The day’s biggest thread wasn’t better models—it was better fences. U.S. banks and brokerages are increasingly blocking outside AI agents from logging into customer accounts and moving money, with Charles Schwab reporting agents are stopped “in the tens and twenties each week.” Schwab’s workaround is telling: outside agents may view balances and run analyses, but transaction access is tightened via Schwab’s own MCP servers, pushing transfers back toward in-house assistants or human approval. That sits alongside new legal pressure too—at least eight states sued OpenAI, alleging ChatGPT helps “cyberhacking agents” and harms children while deceiving adults, with OpenAI saying it will keep improving child safety and reviewing misaligned models.
