Xtracticle

Product Hunt Ahmet Deveci

Xtracticle now turns X posts, threads, and articles into Markdown, text, PDF, EPUB, or a ZIP. No login, no API key, and it even unrolls threads for you.

Summary, retelling and take written by AI under human oversight; images are AI-generated illustrations. How we work · Report an error

Xtracticle has pushed a second launch on Product Hunt, and the pitch is simple: paste an X URL and get a file you can keep. The tool pulls long-form articles, threads, and posts from X, then saves them as clean Markdown, plain text, PDF, or EPUB. There’s also an option to bundle every image into a ZIP.

The appeal is not subtle. Xtracticle is free and open source, and it skips the usual gatekeeping — no login, no API key, no rate limits. It also auto-detects threads and merges them into one document, which saves people from the usual copy-paste ritual that somehow still survives in 2026.

The new version adds a few things aimed at heavier use. Threads can now be unrolled from any post, batch mode can send 20 links into one ZIP, and there’s an iPhone Shortcut. It also adds seven languages and a free MCP server so Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can read X posts as Markdown.

Under the hood, the project is built with React and TypeScript and runs globally on Cloudflare Workers with zero cold start. Xtracticle’s own tip is almost too neat: swap x.com for xtracticle.com in any post URL, and the tool takes over from there.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the kind of open tool the AI crowd keeps pretending will arrive by magic: boring, useful, and annoyingly practical. The real story is not the file formats, it’s the refusal to make basic extraction a subscription trap. Platforms love friction; open tools keep sanding it off.
