The document-processing market just got more competitive. Datalab's Marker 2 outpaced rivals MinerU and Docling on Allen AI's olmOCR benchmark, posting 76.0% accuracy at 2.9 pages per second on NVIDIA's B200 GPU—a meaningful advantage over MinerU's 72.7% at 0.54 pages per second. The rebuilt tool converts PDFs and other formats to markdown or JSON across three modes: balanced, fast, and CPU-only, though Datalab is tightening access with paid commercial licenses required for companies above $5 million in revenue. Meanwhile, Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 is making security claims of its own. Engineer Boris Cherny documented in the model's system card that Opus 5 resists prompt injection attacks better than previous versions, citing results from formal evals and red teaming—a tacit acknowledgment that guardrails matter as much as capability in an era when users routinely probe for exploits. OpenAI's $230 Micro keypad, meanwhile, suggests hardware isn't where the company's energy lies. Six programmable agent keys and voice dictation sound useful in principle, but early reviews from coders have been brutally cool to lukewarm. When existing keyboard shortcuts and DIY alternatives cost nothing, a dedicated device demands serious friction reduction—which, for most users, it simply doesn't provide.
