Anthropic says its biology lab has already found something big

Anthropic reported that its wet biology lab in the Bay Area found a new enzyme system it says behaves like CRISPR, including cutting, copying, and pasting DNA operations. The team says Claude produced the result after 21 hours of work using about 950 agents and 210 million tokens. Anthropic says the research community will need to validate the discovery, and it is still conducting lab experiments with human scientists rather than fully automating the lab.
