HiRO-ACEv2 updated Ai2’s HiRO-ACE climate emulator to better downscale coarse simulations into 3 km global weather fields, including rarer extremes. It can generate global 3 km climate data at about 1/300th the cost of X-SHiELD. As a result, researchers can produce multiple 10-year sequences of high-resolution rain, wind, and pressure with higher extreme-event accuracy, with future work extending it to warmer or historical climates.

The funding is meant to bring its salt-tolerant wheat product to market in Bangladesh by 2027. The new programmes add drought and nitrogen-use efficiency work and expand field trials, R&D, and trait discovery to support additional cereals.

It becomes a benchmark for how investors should price the next wave of frontier model companies, especially as capital markets start to ask for financial discipline, not just impressive demos.
