sci2sci raises €1.2M to build trusted AI infrastructure for regulated industries

Berlin startup sci2sci just raised €1.2M to make AI outputs easier to verify in regulated industries. Its bet: if every claim needs evidence, audits get a lot less painful.

Berlin-based sci2sci has raised €1.2 million in pre-seed funding to push its software deeper into regulated markets. The round was co-led by Heliad and IBB Ventures, with Robin Capital and Superangels also taking part.

The company was founded by Angelina Lesnikova and Valerii Kremnev, and its pitch is straightforward: make data and AI outputs easier to trust by tying them back to their sources. That matters most in biopharma, where research and regulatory material can be scattered across PDFs, spreadsheets, lab notes and different systems that do not speak to each other.

Sci2sci’s Integrity Cortex is built to pull those pieces into a structured network. It links claims to source material, checks citations and conclusions, and produces an auditable trail intended to meet 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic records. The system runs on Parseltongue, a framework the company open-sourced this year under the Apache 2.0 licence.

The startup also has a second product, VectorCat, which acts as a data integration layer. It connects information across cloud storage, network drives and laboratory systems without forcing customers to move the underlying data, then turns it into a searchable catalogue for people and AI applications.

Sci2sci says it is already working with customers in preclinical research, contract clinical research and bioprocess operations. The new money will go into hiring more engineers, expanding existing deployments and reaching more biopharma customers, while also extending Integrity Cortex into other regulated sectors, including banking.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right instinct: regulated industries do not need louder AI, they need AI that can show its work. The industry has spent enough time pretending trust is a feature you bolt on later, which is adorable in the same way a seatbelt after the crash is adorable. If sci2sci can keep the evidence chain intact, that’s not niche plumbing — that’s the product.
