Tech.eu Tamara Djurickovic

Biolevate just raised €30M to push its AI into life sciences workflows. The bet: regulated science needs faster automation, but still needs human checks.

Biolevate has closed a €30 million Series A to widen its AI platform for life sciences and push into more markets. The round was co-led by RAISE France, the investment vehicle of French entrepreneur Aymar Hénin, and Orange Ventures, with support from MSD Global Health Innovation Fund, Station F and existing backer EQT Ventures.

The Paris-based company was founded by former Dataiku engineers and AI researchers, and it is aiming at a very specific headache: the paperwork, review cycles and compliance work that slow down drug development. Biolevate says its system turns scientific and regulatory knowledge into auditable workflows, with outputs tied back to source evidence so it can be used in regulated settings without removing human oversight.

It started with regulatory approval workflows, but the platform now spans more of the life sciences chain, from research and clinical trials to health technology assessments, regulatory dossiers, drug discovery and drug development. One technical detail stands out: the company says it can run up to 100,000 agents at once. Biolevate also claims its software has sped up systematic literature reviews and research synthesis sixteenfold, while delivering an 80% efficiency gain in regulatory intelligence and compliance.

The funding comes after a seed round in 2024, during which Biolevate says it expanded partnerships and customers. The company now says it serves more than a dozen enterprise customers and has grown annual recurring revenue over the past year. It is also opening a Boston office as part of its US expansion, and it says headcount has doubled over the past year and should double again in the next one.

There’s a lot of hand-wringing about AI in regulated industries, but Biolevate is doing the sensible version: less magic trick, more workflow machine. The real tell here is the insistence on evidence and oversight, which is exactly what life sciences buys when it’s not in the mood for startup theatre.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right kind of AI pitch for life sciences: narrow, boring, and obsessed with proof. The industry does not need another chatbot with a lab coat; it needs software that can survive compliance review without causing a small riot.
