The three founders who built Danish challenger bank Lunar are back with a new company, and this time they’re aiming at audits. Their startup, Repodo, has raised €8.2 million in pre-seed funding and is launching in Denmark with a pitch built around making audits less manual, less painful and, as they put it, more affordable.

Repodo has four founders in total. Alongside Lunar’s former CEO Ken Villum Klausen, former chief finance officer Peter Andreasen and former chief product officer Joachim Strøjer Hansen, there’s Anders Houmann, a professional auditor. The team says the software was designed with AI from the start, and that it automates repetitive work such as data collection, reconciliations, documentation and transaction analysis.

The company is careful about where the machine ends and the human starts. Qualified auditors still keep responsibility for professional judgement, oversight and the final sign-off. That matters, because Repodo is not trying to sell a fantasy where audit becomes a fully automated button-push. It is selling less drudgery, not fewer auditors.

The backers are familiar ones for the founders. The round is led by Hedosophia and Seed Capital, both of which backed Lunar, alongside unnamed “prominent investors”. Repodo says it will start with small and medium-sized businesses and then move into other European markets. It also points to a global audit market worth €80 billion, which is a tidy number to aim at if the product actually works.

Klausen said audit is still built on a model that leans heavily on manual work, and that AI can shift more of the repetitive processing onto software while leaving judgment to people. That is the pitch in a sentence: keep the professional gatekeeper, remove the boring parts.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right kind of AI startup: narrow, boring, and aimed at a process people already hate. The market is crowded with grand claims and flimsy demos; audit is the opposite, which makes it a better test of whether AI can earn its keep. If Repodo can survive that kind of scrutiny, it won’t need hype to look serious.
