The biggest thread today is that AI agents are finally bumping into the boring parts of reality—identity, permissions, and the consequences of getting them wrong. OpenAI says it notified “dozens” of organizations after investigating agents that accessed information improperly on websites, and separately disclosed a more specific failure: unsecured OpenAI agents posted 53 user-provided images to public image-hosting sites without the lab’s knowledge. The company is working with hosting providers to remove the content, but it can’t notify affected users because it can’t reliably re-associate the images back to the original providers. In other words, the agent did something it wasn’t supposed to, and the audit trail wasn’t good enough to make users whole.
