Google Earth’s Nano Banana (model) is an AI image generation capability embedded in Google Earth that creates synthetic satellite or aerial imagery from text prompts, including by superimposing generated content onto real maps. Coverage in late July and early August describes Google launching the feature globally and then retracting it within days after demonstrations and criticism that it could produce misleading or fabricated imagery of real locations, including sensitive or harmful scenarios.
