2024 Year in Review

Eugene Yan 1 year ago 19

Eugene Yan shipped ML and LLM systems to production in 2024 after prototyping them in 2023, published six substantive pieces on synthetic data and LLM evaluation, and built two AI applications: Tara (an AI coach) and AlignEval (an LLM evaluation tool that accumulated 538 uploaded dataset files). AlignEval users labeled at least 50 samples and optimized evaluators across 84 files, while his website traffic shifted from search to other channels, declining 27.3% in Google impressions but gaining 10.5% in unique visitors overall. For 2025, Yan plans to write six more substantive pieces, prototype four new apps publicly, and maintain health habits including attempting a black ski run.
