Microsoft will retire Excel’s COPILOT() worksheet function on September 14, 2026. The function, previewed in August 2025, will no longer be available starting that date. From then on, Copilot help must come via the Copilot side pane instead of calling the function from a cell, and Microsoft updated its roadmap to cancel the planned general release in 2027.
OpenAI released a ChatGPT feature on Mac that logs keystrokes without encryption. The logging captures all keyboard input in plain text, creating a privacy vulnerability. Users now face unencrypted keystroke data stored on their devices, potentially exposing sensitive information.
OpenAI started emailing users in the EEA and Switzerland that it will add ads to the Free and Go versions of ChatGPT later this month. The Go plan will cost €7.99 per month while still including ads. Ads are still non-personalised at launch, with personalisation requiring an opt-in, and ad data deletion is available via Settings > Ad controls.
