SuperApp launches a shared space with AI models for teams to collaborate on work

SiliconANGLE Kyt Dotson

SuperApp, formerly Instabase, launched a shared AI workspace for teams. It’s built to keep chat, docs, and model choice in one place instead of scattered across tools.

SuperApp Inc. has a new name, a new flagship product, and a much clearer pitch: keep the team in one place and put AI inside the work instead of beside it. The company, which used to be called Instabase, says its SuperApp platform is now live on the web, iOS, Android and Windows.

The product mixes a Slack-style chat layer with a document library and direct access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. Users don’t have to choose a model first. SuperApp’s routing system is meant to pick one based on the task, whether that means speed, reasoning, knowledge or cost. If teams want to take control, they can also choose a specific model or compare several in the same context.

That model-choice story is doing a lot of work here. SuperApp is built around what the company calls freedom of model choice, data and cloud, with the goal of letting customers switch models without rebuilding applications or moving data around. The company’s line is simple: AI changes, work shouldn’t have to. Founder and chief executive Anant Bhardwaj framed the product as a way to avoid architectural and vendor lock-in while keeping the record of the work intact.

The broader argument is about context. SuperApp says too many people do their work in one place and then jump to separate AI chats, which breaks the thread and makes collaboration messy. By putting AI directly into the chat where the team is already working, the company says the same conversation can be researched, reviewed, briefed, previewed, presented and stored for later.

The company also made clear this is more than a rename. Superbase, founded as Instabase in 2015, has raised more than $250 million, including a $100 million Series D in early 2025 led by the Qatar Investment Authority. Its Instabase AI Hub will keep going, supported by SuperApp technology under the hood, while the company shifts toward AI collaboration as its main direction.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right kind of AI product: less demo theatre, more workflow plumbing. The real breakthrough isn’t another chatbot with a shinier coat; it’s refusing to make teams choose between tools, data, and whatever model is fashionable this week. The industry keeps selling magic, but boring coordination is where the money is.
