Frontier Models for Every Robot: Announcing the Pi API Beta

pi.website

Pi announced a beta of the Pi API that lets developers use its robotic foundation models for training, fine-tuning, and hosted inference. The beta launches on October 13, 2026. Developers can now fine-tune and iterate via a managed API workflow instead of setting up their own ML compute and data pipelines, enabling faster autonomy improvements for their robots.

Why it matters

Physical Intelligence’s Pi API beta lets developers upload robot demonstrations, fine-tune models on managed infrastructure, and run inference through a hosted gateway. Early partners reportedly improved policies, though some deployments ran into network connectivity challenges.
