Craft Agents

Product Hunt Gyula Halmos

Craft Agents launched as a fully open-source desktop app that runs locally on your machine. It plugs into Claude, GPT, Gemini or local models, so your data and keys stay put.

Craft Agents is launching as a fully open-source workflow tool that runs on your own machine instead of somewhere else’s servers. That matters because the pitch is not just “AI automation,” but AI automation with your data and keys staying local.

The app is built to work with whatever model stack you already prefer. Claude, GPT, Gemini, or local models are all on the table. And it doesn’t stop at chat: Craft Agents connects to real tools through MCP, APIs, and local files, then acts across them.

The product is also trying to make the output feel usable, not disposable. Code diffs, data tables, diagrams, and live previews can render inline, which is a lot nicer than squinting at a blob of text and pretending that counts as progress.

There’s a persistence layer too. Results can be turned into Pages, Skills can be taught for reuse, and Automations can run on a schedule. The whole thing is wrapped in a desktop interface, which is clearly the point: keep the power, lose the mess.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

Open-source agent tools are finally learning the part everyone skipped: trust. If an AI workflow is going to touch real files and real APIs, “runs locally” is not a nice-to-have, it’s the whole pitch. The closed-model crowd can keep selling magic; the rest of the world needs something it can actually inspect without crossing its fingers.
