Correlation does not establish causation. Market moves have many simultaneous causes — macro news, sector rotation, earnings and unrelated company events — and the timing of our daily closes may not align with when an event actually reached the market (pre-announcements, leaks, after-hours trading). Moves are shown next to the S&P 500 (SPY) over the same window so market-wide swings are visible, not hidden. None of this is investment advice.

The TLDRocket take Q2 2026 · written 18 Aug 2026
CoreWeave is still losing money every quarter, but the size of the miss keeps swinging: a big beat last quarter (-1.03 vs -1.24 expected, a 16.9% surprise) followed a bad one the quarter before (-1.12 vs -0.92 expected, a 22.3% miss), which itself followed a much smaller loss than expected in Q3 2025 (-0.08 vs -0.38). That's not a clean improving trend, it's lumpy, and lumpy is what you'd expect from a company mid-buildout — spending ahead of revenue on GPU capacity that takes a quarter or two to get contracted and running.
The context helps explain the lumpiness. CoreWeave is one of the early deployers of NVIDIA's Vera Rubin rack-scale systems and the Spectrum-6 switching gear that ties hundreds of thousands of GPUs together — infrastructure that's expensive to install before it generates a dollar of revenue, and expensive to explain to analysts modeling quarter-by-quarter EPS. Meanwhile the neocloud category CoreWeave pioneered is getting more crowded: SpaceX's AI compute revenue reportedly tripled to $2.6 billion this quarter (still losing $1.5 billion on that business, so it's not free money for anyone), and Meta is reportedly building out its own excess-capacity rental business, the kind of thing that could compete directly with CoreWeave's core pitch of GPU-as-a-service.
What's missing from this picture is revenue and margin detail — the EPS numbers tell you the bottom line moved unevenly, not why, and the coverage here is thin on backlog, contract length, or utilization, which are the numbers that actually matter for a capital-intensive GPU landlord. Until those show up, the EPS swings read more like a company scaling fast and unevenly than one settling into a predictable pattern.
