NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Lightning was added to Amazon SageMaker JumpStart, letting users deploy the open model without manually configuring the serving infrastructure. The launch reports up to 4x higher throughput and up to 30% faster task completion for high-volume agentic workloads. Users can now pick the BF16 or NVFP4 model variants in JumpStart and create SageMaker AI endpoints, changing deployment from custom setup to one-click provisioning.
Nvidia’s investments in nearly open-source language models are framed as an effort to make the open-weight “token machines” ecosystem self-sustaining rather than dependent on closed competitors. Nvidia is reported to be spending $26 billion on this approach. Open models may either become more dependent on Nvidia’s financing or fork toward more efficiency and enterprise-specialized long-tail use, while revenue-share licensing and reduced interest in training full base models shape the ecosystem.
Groq raised $350 million on weaker terms and its valuation fell from $6.9 billion to $3.5 billion, even as Nvidia assets became a major part of the restructuring. The round implies the company’s valuation is now almost cut in half ($6.9B to $3.5B). Groq shifts from being an AI inference chip designer to operating an inference cloud with its own data centers, while Nvidia uses licensed Groq technology through its platform.
