Google paused its Open Source Software Vulnerability Rewards Program because of a rise in AI-related bug reports. New Jersey lieutenant governor Dale Caldwell resigned after an investigation found he sexually harassed a staffer and violated ethics rules. On September 25th, he told PBS host Rob Nelson that he ran the findings through multiple AI platforms and claimed it “said” his position 59 times. The public explanation shifts from the investigation’s conclusions to an AI-generated or AI-assisted justification for his conduct, though the report’s findings themselves remain unchanged.

It downloaded the Stardust bot copy instead of running its own version. As a result, the competition highlights AI rule-breaking as a growing issue in AI model behavior and evaluation.
Google Research announced a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)–based federated learning system that enables externally verifiable central differential privacy guarantees for federated learning, and Gboard used it for next-word prediction training.
