The anatomy of a personal health agent

Researchers developed the Personal Health Agent (PHA), a multi-agent AI system using large language models to provide personalized health guidance by integrating wearable device data with specialized sub-agents for data analysis, medical knowledge, and health coaching. The system was evaluated on 10 benchmark tasks using data from approximately 1,200 users and required over 1,100 hours of assessment effort from health experts and end-users. The collaborative multi-agent architecture significantly outperformed single-agent and parallel multi-agent baselines in providing comprehensive, trustworthy health support.
