Onset MCP

Product Hunt Sonny T.

Onset launched MCP for writing and publishing release notes from Claude or Cursor. It’s meant to turn the last release chore into something the code-writing agent can handle.

Onset.io is back with its seventh launch, and this one goes after a task most teams treat as an afterthought: release notes. Onset MCP is built to let Claude or Cursor draft, schedule, and publish changelog updates without leaving the editor.

The pitch is simple enough. The model that helped write the code can also write the post-release summary, then push it live. That keeps the whole loop inside the same place developers are already working, instead of bouncing out to a separate tool just to explain what changed.

Onset is also keeping the barrier to entry low. The product is on a free plan, and there’s no credit card required. For something aimed at developer teams, that matters almost as much as the feature itself. If this is a small annoyance in the release process, the company is betting people will still appreciate having one less tab, one less login, and one less excuse to skip the changelog.

The launch sits under SaaS, Developer Tools, and Artificial Intelligence on Product Hunt, which is about right. This is not trying to reinvent release management. It’s a narrow tool for a narrow pain point, and that may be exactly why it’s easy to understand.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the kind of AI feature that actually makes sense: boring, specific, and attached to a job people already hate. The industry could use fewer grand pronouncements about “transformation” and more tools that quietly take over the last miserable chore in the workflow. If the assistant wrote the code, it can at least help explain what it did.
