MolmoAct 2: An open foundation for robots that work in the real world

Allen Institute (AI2)

MolmoAct 2, an open-source robotics foundation model, was released alongside its code and training data after 400K downloads of initial artifacts. The model achieves 87.1% success on real-world manipulation tasks and runs 37 times faster than its predecessor, with inference taking 180 milliseconds per action versus 6,700 milliseconds previously. The release includes a 720-hour bimanual manipulation dataset and integration into Hugging Face's LeRobot platform, enabling researchers to customize and deploy the model for physical tasks without extensive retraining.

Why it matters

MolmoAct 2 is a fully open robotics foundation model that brings faster, stronger 3D action reasoning to real-world robot tasks, alongside a major new bimanual manipulation dataset for researchers to study, reproduce, and build on.
