Legora has pulled in a $550 million Series E and stamped a fresh $8.8 billion post-money valuation on itself. Atreides Management led the round, with new backers including Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners, and J.P. Morgan. The big names already on the cap table stayed in: Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Sands Capital all joined again.

The company is making a point of who it raised from. Legora says it wanted investors with long time horizons, including institutions and strategic players that work closely with law firms and in-house legal teams. That fits the pitch here: this is not being sold as a quick AI wrapper, but as software for a market that moves slowly, buys carefully, and still has a lot of money to spend.

The numbers help explain why investors showed up. Legora says it grew from $1 million to $100 million in annual recurring revenue in under 18 months, then doubled the next $100 million in less than six months. ARR is now above $200 million. The new valuation also marks a sharp jump from the $5.6 billion it had at its previous round.

And the customer base is broadening in the direction Legora wants. In-house legal teams, which were only a small slice of customers a year ago, accounted for more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter. In the US, now its biggest market by revenue, more than half of the AmLaw 50 are customers. Legora says it opened its first US office only in spring 2025.

The money will go into US and international expansion and more work on Legora aOS, the company’s agentic operating system for legal professionals. The product roadmap includes agentic in-take, horizon scanning, and legal research. Legora, founded in 2023 and launched in October 2024, says it now has more than 1,000 employees across 18 offices and serves more than 140,000 legal professionals at more than 2,400 law firms and in-house teams across over 80 markets.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

Legal AI has clearly moved past the demo stage, and the market is now rewarding the vendors that can survive real procurement pain. That’s bad news for the usual chatbot cosplay crowd. If you can’t survive a legal buyer, you probably can’t survive a budget cycle either.
