NVIDIA invests in MediaTek
Funding Provisional 90% confidence first seen
Nvidia invested $3.5 billion in Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek, according to TechCrunch. As part of the deal, MediaTek will adopt Nvidia technology to help design custom AI data-center chips that can plug into Nvidia-based systems, including access to Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion ecosystem (such as NVLink) to support interoperability between chips. The partnership matters because it extends Nvidia’s AI infrastructure platform while enabling MediaTek to expand its custom-ASIC offerings to hyperscalers and AI developers working with Nvidia systems.
