IBM announced a new modular cryogenic design intended to link multiple quantum processor chips using both quantum and classical connections. The company says it has demonstrated two coupled cryogenic cells and built and cooled two modules of a new refrigerator design at temperatures below 15 millikelvin, with plans to test a processor in the modules later this year.
