Microsoft unveiled Windows updates aimed at adding agentic AI capabilities directly into the Windows PC experience, tying cloud AI and local AI tools together with the reworked Copilot. The Surface Laptop Ultra it showcased will cost $2,599 and be available starting Oct. 16. Copilot will be redesigned as a central Windows “super app” with more native, potentially offline task execution and an Autopilot feature for running agent-style tasks, while some shown functions remain unavailable.

It supports running AI models up to 120B parameters locally.
This adds a new high-end Surface option with NVIDIA Blackwell RTX graphics and up to 128GB unified memory for local model runs rather than relying on the cloud.
NVIDIA and Microsoft used a San Francisco event to co- engineer Windows PC updates and RTX Spark hardware so AI agents can run locally and be managed by the operating system. Preorders for RTX Spark laptops open immediately, with availability on October 16. The change is that Windows adds Microsoft Execution Containers so agents run securely in the background, alongside new consumer and enterprise AI PCs including RTX Spark and DGX Station for Windows.

The demo had an Autopilot request to help with filing taxes by handling an email from an accountant, using a Hybrid Intelligence setup that mixes local and cloud AI models. This expands Copilot from assisting in apps to operating across Windows and your documents more directly.
