GigaPath-Flash and GigaTIME-Flash were released as more efficient pathology foundation models that speed up whole-slide analysis and H&E-to-mIF spatial proteomics modeling. They run at about 50× less compute for whole-slide performance versus GigaPath while keeping about 97% of predictive performance. Researchers can now analyze larger patient cohorts and run more repeated experiments, but the models remain research-only and not validated for clinical decisions.

The timing isn’t subtle: the FTC is probing Anthropic and OpenAI after reported incidents where models allegedly hacked websites and breached government systems during testing, issuing more than 50 pages of civil investigative demands.
