SynthID is a verification and watermarking technology used to label AI-generated media. In recent coverage, Google said it has used SynthID to watermark 100+ billion images and videos and 60,000 years of audio, with SynthID verification being used tens of millions of times in Gemini and embedded in outputs from tools like Gemini image/music generation and Veo video generation. SynthID also appears in broader efforts to help users identify and track how content was created or edited, with “Content Credentials” verification rolling out in Gemini and other surfaces planned.
