Microsoft’s MAI-Transcribe-2-Streaming set the tone for how AI is getting faster at the parts that matter in the real world: dictation that doesn’t wait. The new streaming speech-to-text model hit #1 of 38 on final transcript accuracy, posting a 2.5% WER and landing its “time after speech ended” at just 0.13 seconds. More importantly for product teams building agents, it starts producing partials in about 100ms and revises them as context arrives—so systems can take action mid-sentence rather than after the fact.
