OriginalVoices has closed a £1 million pre-seed round led by Iona Star, and the pitch is very straightforward: AI is getting better at producing answers, but it still struggles to know what people actually think about products, brands and services.

The company’s answer is a network of one-to-one digital twins, each tied to a real person and managed by that person. These twins can be queried by AI agents or reached through tools such as ChatGPT and Claude. OriginalVoices says it is trying to replace the usual mix of synthetic audiences and AI-made personas with something closer to live human opinion.

It also runs Twineo, a consumer app that lets people create, train and manage their own digital twins. Since launching in December 2025, OriginalVoices says it has built tens of thousands of twin profiles. That gives the company a base to sell from, but also a reminder of what it is really building: not just software, but a supply of human perspective that can be packaged for machines.

The company has already teamed up with YouGov on a product called YouGov Parallax. That combines YouGov’s panel data with OriginalVoices’ twin infrastructure so customers can interact with digital versions of participants based on the underlying data. The new money will go into hiring, more real-time data tech, a bigger twin network and more partnerships, with a stronger push into the US market and a plan to grow customers and revenue.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right kind of AI startup: not another grand promise about replacing people, but a business built around the fact that people still matter. The twist is that the smartest AI pitch here is basically market research with a fresher coat of paint. That may sound unglamorous, which is usually a good sign in a sector addicted to fireworks.
