OpenAI is rolling out a new Intelligent UI feature in ChatGPT that lets the chatbot answer with more than just words. Instead of a plain block of text, responses can now include diagrams, charts, forms, tappable buttons, and other interactive pieces.

The company says the update is going to all users and is arriving alongside GPT-6. In a blog post, OpenAI said it trained GPT-6 to decide when to use interactive visuals instead of text, and how those visuals should be formatted inside a response.

That matters because it turns ChatGPT from a chat box into something closer to a living interface. Ask about a product or a design problem, and the answer may not just explain itself — it may let you poke at it.

OpenAI shared one example showing a diagram of a seven-speed bicycle. The mockup included interactive buttons that could highlight different parts of the bike, which is a pretty direct sign of where this is headed: less scrolling through text, more clicking inside the answer itself.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the kind of move that makes sense on paper and mildly annoys everyone who still likes a clean answer. OpenAI keeps pushing ChatGPT toward a shiny, app-like wrapper, while the rest of the industry pretends every new button is magic. Sometimes a chart is useful; sometimes it’s just a fancier way to waste screen space.
