Google announced a unified “agent” in Gemini that can answer questions and carry out tasks on a user’s behalf through a single interface. It will start with businesses first, after citing that Gemini has over 1 billion monthly active users and that nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies use Gemini Enterprise. Google says the agent can be given objectives (not just instructions) and connect to business tools like Workspace and other internal systems, with added controls such as model selection and cost-management options.
Google will remove Gemini Flash and Gemini Pro from free personal accounts starting tomorrow, leaving only Flash-Lite. The cut removes Flash and Pro entirely from non-subscribers, where Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite becomes the only option. Paid plans change too: the $4.99/month tier loses Pro while the $19.99/month tier keeps Flash, Pro, and Deep Think, and users also get a new low/medium/high effort setting tied to usage limits.
Google is launching a universal Gemini AI agent that can carry out work tasks across apps and devices in the background. It was announced on Thursday at the Gemini at Work event. The agent will be available in the Gemini Enterprise app and will integrate with Workspace apps and platforms like Slack and Microsoft 365 while keeping context in the cloud.
