Collaborating on a nationwide randomized study of AI in real-world virtual care

Google and Included Health are launching a nationwide randomized controlled trial to evaluate conversational AI in real-world virtual care settings, moving beyond earlier simulation-based and single-center feasibility studies. The study will involve consented patients recruited across multiple geographies and conditions, pending IRB approval, to assess the AI system's safety and utility compared to standard clinical practice. Results from this large-scale prospective study will provide evidence to guide responsible deployment of medical AI in healthcare workflows and inform subsequent development of these systems.
