Whistleblowing and the EU AI Act
AI Act 11 months ago
The EU Whistleblowing Directive (2019) protects employees, contractors, and other professionals who report violations of EU law, including protections covering AI Act violations starting August 2026. The Directive requires organizations with 50 or more employees to establish internal reporting channels and mandates responses within seven days and feedback within three months. Whistleblowers gain explicit protection against retaliation, with the burden of proof shifting to employers to demonstrate adverse actions were unrelated to reporting.
