The point isn’t oversight of OpenAI’s decisions—the group has advisory and release-coordination input only—but it signals a shift toward proving progress with harder external yardsticks. OpenAI also claimed its internal model has resolved more than 100 additional open problems, a number that matters because “benchmarks” are easy to argue about and refereed proofs are not.
