Google can't resist a tease, and its latest one is a literal glow. A short video quietly posted on the Pixel 11's store page shows a small, color-shifting orb sitting beside the camera bar, doing absolutely nothing to explain itself. No caption, no spec sheet, just light pulsing in some unspecified pattern meant to make you wonder.

The timing lines up suspiciously well with something 9to5Google spotted digging through Android 17 betas: a feature called "Pixel Glow." Nobody outside Google knows exactly what that does yet, but the name alone suggests some kind of ambient lighting cue built into the hardware, not just a wallpaper trick or a software animation.

My bet is this connects to Gemini. Google has spent the better part of two years trying to make its AI assistant feel less like a chatbot bolted onto a phone and more like a built-in presence, something with texture and personality.
