Product Hunt Pratyush Rungta

Refs is a library of 3,000+ films cut up into blueprints for AI. It plugs into Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor with one command.

Refs is pitching a very specific kind of help for builders: not generic inspiration, but a film library that has been broken down cut by cut. The company says it has 3,000-plus films that “moved people,” each turned into a 15-plate blueprint with a recipe prompt attached.

The point is to let AI work from something closer to a real reference than a mood board. Add it to Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor with one command, and Claude can plan a launch film from the actual material behind it. That’s the claim, anyway, and it’s a neat one: less staring at a blank page, more borrowing the structure of things that already worked.

The launch sits in a familiar Product Hunt lane: developer tools, artificial intelligence, and photo and video. Free options are listed, which should help with the usual first question people ask when a tool says it will save them time.

What makes Refs stand out is the oddly manual-sounding bit. “Measured cut by cut” suggests someone did the hard, tedious part first, then wrapped it in an AI-friendly format. That’s a smart bet. AI tools are much better when someone has already done the organizing.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the rare AI product pitch that admits the machine is only as good as the structure fed into it. That’s healthier than the usual hand-waving about magic. Also, “from the real thing” is doing a lot of work here, which is exactly why it probably matters.
