RapidCanvas has raised $29 million in a Series B led by Vertex Ventures SEA & India, with support from Hitachi Ventures, Accel, Peak XV Partners, Valley Capital Partners and Titanium Ventures. The round comes after a $16 million investment in 2024, and the company says it will use the money to hire more people for go-to-market and AI engineering.

The startup builds custom AI applications for companies with annual revenue between $100 million and $1 billion. Its pitch is simple: let engineers move faster with an automation toolkit, then still keep enough human oversight to avoid the usual enterprise mess. RapidCanvas says its platform handles about 60% of the work normally needed to build AI applications.

The first piece of that platform is the Enterprise Context Engine, which pulls data from a customer’s internal systems. That context helps the applications understand company-specific terms and business metrics, which should cut down on model errors. It also maps how employees carry out business tasks, and if the information is incomplete or inconsistent, it asks a human to fill in the gaps.

The second piece is a library of prebuilt modules for jobs like user authentication, document processing and vulnerability detection. After the application is built, RapidCanvas runs it through Operational Harness, a tool that checks whether each use case meets task-specific reliability criteria. The company gives both the tooling and professional services through one subscription, and says it has built software for more than 75 clients in manufacturing, finance and retail. It also says annualized revenue has grown eightfold over the past 18 months.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the sensible part of enterprise AI, which is why it’s less glamorous than the demo-heavy stuff. The real money is in making models useful without turning them into expensive confidence machines. RapidCanvas is basically betting that enterprises will pay for guardrails, workflow knowledge and boring reliability — a much better bet than yet another “AI will replace everyone” sales pitch.
