PrivOS is pitching itself as an all-in-one operating system for enterprise work, built around chat, docs, Kanban tasks and tailored MCP apps in one place. The idea is simple enough: instead of scattering work across separate tools, the company wants those pieces living side by side so AI can move between them without the usual glue code circus.

The standout feature is how the agents operate. In a room, a user can @-mention a list, file, folder or app, and the agent goes to work from its own sandboxed container. That makes the product feel less like a chatbot bolted onto software and more like a system where the software itself is meant to be acted on.

PrivOS is also leaning into deployment choice. The Community Edition can be self-hosted for free for up to 10 users in beta, while its cloud version is hosted in the EU. And for the model layer, it says it accepts Anthropic- or OpenAI-compatible models, including local ones.

This is PrivOS’s second launch on Product Hunt, which suggests the team is still iterating rather than just doing one big splash. The pitch is squarely for enterprises that want AI in the workflow without handing everything over to a single hosted model or a single vendor setup.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the kind of product that makes more sense than most AI wrappers because it starts with work, not prompts. Self-hosting, EU hosting and local models are the right answers for companies that don’t want their private files treated like demo fodder. The catch, as always, is whether the polished demo survives contact with actual teams and their glorious chaos.
