Flapping Airplanes was introduced as a “young person’s AGI lab” led by Ben and Asher Spector and aimed at building more data-efficient AI rather than relying mainly on scaling compute. The effort shifts investment from brand-name talent and compute-heavy scaling toward a PhD-like, long-term, biology-inspired research track supported by young researchers.
