OpenAI and the CSU system bring AI to 500,000 students & faculty

OpenAI has partnered with the California State University system to provide ChatGPT access to approximately 500,000 students and faculty members across 23 campuses. The deployment covers all CSU institutions and will be integrated into teaching, learning, and administrative functions starting this academic year. Students and educators can now use AI tools for coursework, research, and institutional operations as part of standard university resources.
Why it matters
The largest deployment of ChatGPT to date will expand the use of AI in education and help the United States build an AI-ready workforce.
