NVIDIA Expands Advanced Technology Access for Europe’s Scientific Community Through Open Learning Resources, Collaborations and Compute
NVIDIA Blog Rod Evans ● Covered by 9 sources
NVIDIA joined a new EU push to give scientists more open tools, training and compute. It’s aimed at the people who usually get stuck before the real research even starts.

At the AI in Science Summit in Dublin, the European Commission launched the AI in Science Enablers Initiative, a framework tied to RAISE, the Resource for AI Science in Europe. NVIDIA is now part of that effort, promising access to accelerated tools, models and platforms, plus compute, cloud resources, data, training and technical support. The pitch is simple: scientific progress depends on more than clever models if labs can’t actually run them.
That focus on access runs through NVIDIA’s announcement. The company says it has released more than 250 open models, 250 open datasets and over 1,400 open source software projects, with material spanning large language models, healthcare, robotics, climate science, physical AI, autonomous vehicles and scientific research. Those models and datasets live on Hugging Face and GitHub. NVIDIA is also pushing researchers toward Nemotron and a cluster of science tools, including BioNeMo Agent Toolkit, PhysicsNeMo, Earth-2 and ALCHEMI NIM microservices, all meant to help with work in biology, chemistry, molecular design, weather, climate, energy, engineering, physics and materials science.
The training piece is unusually practical. NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute has launched an open source courseware hub with freely downloadable, openly licensed hands-on material. No enrollment. No fee. No deadline. The courses can be dropped into university classes, supercomputing bootcamps or developer events, and they feed into NVIDIA’s wider certification programs. That matters because for a lot of researchers, especially smaller labs and early-career scientists, the bottleneck is not curiosity. It is setup, know-how and time.
On the compute side, NVIDIA says it is working with cloud partners and European national AI factories in France, Spain and Sweden to open new routes to sovereign European compute and services for startups and SMEs. Its Inception program is part of that, and the company says AI2F in France was the first AI factory to collaborate with the program for four months. The BSC AI Factory has already run a pilot and is now rolling out its first full accelerator program, while Sweden AI Factory has announced a collaboration to open its infrastructure and expertise to Inception startups and SMEs across life and material sciences, autonomous systems and gaming. EuroHPC centers such as CINECA and JSC are also offering academia and startups free access to NVIDIA GPU infrastructure and services for open research.
And then there is the scale. NVIDIA says 35 supercomputers are currently in development across Europe, calling it the largest single-year buildout of supercomputing capacity the continent has seen. Together, those systems are meant to support more than 3 million researchers. That is a very large bet on infrastructure, and a very clear message about where the company thinks Europe’s scientific bottlenecks really are.
My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting
This is the right kind of AI story: less grandstanding, more access. Open models, training and compute matter far more than another glossy promise that “democratizes innovation,” which is usually code for “somebody else pays the bill.” Europe keeps learning that sovereignty is mostly a plumbing problem.
