Notion: Context for your agents
Product Hunt Kate Ramakaieva
Notion 3.8 wants to be the shared context layer for your AI agents. That means less re-explaining work when you switch between Claude, ChatGPT, or other MCP agents.

Notion’s latest launch is built around a simple complaint: every new AI agent starts dumb. Notion 3.8 is trying to fix that by making the workspace itself the memory layer, so the next model you use can pick up the same docs, databases, and Skills instead of asking you to repeat the basics.
The company says any MCP agent can read and update that shared context. In practice, that means a switch from one chat tool to another doesn’t have to mean starting over. Notion is also pushing its own agents into the picture, with support for more than 150 tools.
A bigger piece of the pitch is portability. Skills can now sync everywhere through a new Skills API, and version history has been rebuilt so you can see edits made by every agent. That matters because once software starts making changes for you, the audit trail stops being a nice-to-have and becomes the whole point.
Notion is also adding column permissions and rebuilt synced databases, which suggests this is aimed as much at teams and admins as at solo users playing with bots. The product page says the launch is free with options, but the real message is more strategic than that: if AI agents are going to live inside work tools, Notion wants to be the place they all have to pass through.
My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting
This is the right instinct. The industry keeps selling smarter agents while quietly ignoring the boring part: shared context, permissions, and a trail of what changed. Open models are fun; usable systems need a place where the machines stop freelancing and start following house rules.
