Google's early attempt to pay websites for AI answers is struggling
Ars Technica Ryan Whitwam ● Covered by 2 sources
Google has tested paying publishers when their content appears in Gemini-powered AI search answers, but reports say the payments are extremely small. Publishers are becoming skeptical and some larger publishers have declined to participate, hoping for better terms.
Why it matters
Many sites see just one-tenth of one percent of their advertising revenue from AI payments.
