Google won an auction to acquire nearly all Spirit Airlines employment and workplace records from the carrier’s operations database. The deal covers “last Friday,” and Google agreed to use a court-appointed ombudsman to remove personally identifying information before transfer. Spirit employees’ records are therefore to be delivered to Google only in de-identified form with restrictions on re-identification and reuse.
