Darren Aronofsky is an American filmmaker who studied film and social anthropology at Harvard University before training as a director at the AFI Conservatory. He founded the film and TV production company Protozoa Pictures in 1997 and made his feature debut with the psychological thriller "Pi" (1998), which won him the Best Director award at the Sundance Film Festival.
