Meta’s Muse brought the agentic pitch to a very human question: can an AI check out without touching your money? The answer, at least on day one, is “only with permission.” Muse can search, navigate in-app flows, and complete purchases using connected app data, but it rolls out to U.S. adults with the user approving the total before any payment step. Meta’s own data signals the constraint shaping consumer AI right now—many users won’t share payment or location details, and they’d rather delegate parts of shopping (finding, comparing, navigating) than the final act.
