Google Research described a federated learning approach that uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) so that external parties can verify and audit anonymization and training logic, including central differential privacy guarantees. The company said it applied the system to Gboard next-word prediction model training and reported faster training, with performance constrained by TEE resource limits.
